Health insurance for unemployed?
My father was recently (2 months ago) laid off from his job and my mom is also unemployed so we currently have no health benefits or income. I am a full time college student and my dad has diabetes. I was wondering what kind of help we can receive for family health care and educationa help and from where.

Did the COBRA health insurance subsidy get extended?
I know a year ago that there was a 65% federal subsidy of COBRA health insurance benefits for a period after a person is initially unemployed. This subsidy ended May 31st, but I heard Congress was considering getting it renewed. What is the status of this? Is there any further subsidy for citizens of California?

No. It hasn’t been renewed yet. And the closer we get to election time, the less likely it will be renewed – it’s VERY expensive, and can’t be a “forever” thing.

Where I can find low cost health insurance for someone who’s unemployed & relocated to NY from MA? ?
Does anyone have any info or know what to do….? I am trying to find free/low cost health insurance for a person who lost her job about 6 months ago. She moved from Massachusetts to New York about 3 months and she just finished collecting unemployment benefit (money and health insurance) in Massachusetts. She now has no income and no health/medical insurance and she’s a diabetic. Please help. Any info is appreciated.
