Health Insurance Plan Reviews Questions Answered

Ken asks…
How can I review my health insurance plan?
I need to know if my recent doctor visit will be covered under my plan. i want to review my plan. I’ve logged on to my online account on blue cross blue shield’s website but cannot find any information outlining the details of my plan and what it will cover. my dad is paying for my insurance right now btw, so i am not familiar with what it will cover. also, when can i find out if my insurance company paid for my visit or not? thanks alot.
Brad Selers answers:
You can go to the BCBS website, after you log in, go to VIEW CLAIMS. It will show you what is pending, what has been covered, and what you are expected to pay after Blue Cross has paid.

Sharon asks…
Where is the best place to learn about dental, accident, and health insurance?
I want to learn all about dental, accident, and health insurance and see ratings and reviews, of real plans, not obamacare, or any of the goverment stuff. Real private health insurance reviews.

Lizzie asks…
Where can I find reviews for health insurance.?
I am searching for health insurance, where can I go to find information about plans offered and non-biased reviews. In general I have a great distrust of them and am reluctant to get any, any information would be greatly appreciated. I would like something official from an organization or government site. Thank you!
Brad Selers answers:
From a gov’t site? Wow. Since when is the gov’t knowledgeable about consumer products?
Your best bet is a trusted insurance broker. There is no third party source that’s going to be reliable. Consumer Reports does it, but their track record is pretty horrendous in the arena of rating insurance. An insurance broker can give you an unbiased breakdown of plans. Just be sure that when you apply that you apply through the broker to compensate them for their time. AND, if you apply for multiple plans DON’T apply through multiple brokers. I currently have a case where the client applied through United Healthcare through me and also applied for Aetna through another broker. I told the client that they’re going to have to make their own decision. Had he applied for both Aetna and United Healthcare through me then I’d be able to give him a completely unbiased opinion. Buying through a broker is the same price as buying direct or through any other source, so if you have a trusted advisor then you don’t have to worry about it. Smart consumers use financial advisors and insurance brokers.
